Thousands of fans showed up to the grand opening of Carlo's Bakery at Mall of America

The bakery behind the hit TLC show Cake Boss has come to Mall of America — thanks in part to PlanForce. Established in 1910, Carlo’s Bakery was catapulted from a Hoboken, NJ-based neighborhood bakery to a household name through the public’s fascination with the recipes produced by master baker Buddy Valastro and his famiglia on the TLC’s hit series, Cake Boss. Offering up a variety of the most popular pastries and treats, as well as custom cakes, the famous famiglia and bakery is most known for today, this is a one-stop (bake) shop for dessert lovers.

Following the ribbon cutting ceremony, thousands of fans turned out for a chance to meet the Cake Boss and his family.

PlanForce provided construction administration services, acting as the local eyes and ears for the primary architect and providing on-site progress reports to the owner. We identified contractors for bidding, reviewed bids, and coordinated communications between contractors and the owner. We also helped expedite the permitting process with the city, health inspector, and Met Council to gain project approvals for the restaurant design, revising drawings as necessary. And we helped the bakery launch on time, providing the final punch list to the GC and owner.

The bakery is located in the mall’s Culinary on North on the third level. It offers cannoli, lobster tail, cupcakes and more. This is the first Carlo’s Bakery location in the Midwest, and Minnesota is the eighth state in the U.S. to get a Carlo’s Bakery.

This bakery is a true star of the north.
