Mount Royal Fine Foods — Duluth, MN

The Mount Royal Fine Foods grocery store is a fond destination for many people in the Duluth, MN area. The store had several challenges, however, one of which was a non-descript façade.

Mount Royal Fine Foods had not seen any upgrades or modifications in about 40 years. PlanForce Group’s design objective was expanding the building into an adjacent hillside. We also needed to enlarge the entrance to meet newer code requirements, to improve visibility to the neighborhood, and to invite the customer into the store. Many modifications were made to the store interior to make it more efficient and allow the use of newer and more efficient finish materials.
